The Contract Will Provide Cloud Infrastructure to Texas State and Local Governments, Public Education and Public Entities

HERNDON, Va. – June 10, 2015 – ViON Corporation, a market leader in the design, delivery and maintenance of mission critical IT infrastructure solutions, and Quasar Data Center, a provider of Cloud services and data center co-location, jointly announced that they will market Cloud services, allowing Texas-based state and local government, public education and other public entities to purchase Cloud infrastructure. ViON is the prime contractor; Quasar will provide services as a subcontractor, with work to be performed in Quasar’s data center in Houston.

Through this contract, ViON will offer Cloud IaaS for mission-critical and high-performance applications, hosted at the Quasar Data Center, a Tier 1 POP and Tier III capable facility. This partnership between ViON and Quasar leverages ViON’s contacts and expertise offering Cloud infrastructure services to the public sector markets. Additionally, Quasar is a “Historically Underutilized Business” (HUB), which offers an advantage to Texas buyers seeking to meet HUB spending targets. Funds spent on Cloud services through ViON and Quasar will largely remain in Texas.

Utilizing proprietary technology and architecture that enables scalable, faster platforms by spanning across a large number of servers, Quasar’s Cloud infrastructure is unique when compared to traditional Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions. Traditional models involve single physical servers or hosts that run multiple virtual machines (VMs). This can create a problematic architecture: If one host fails, then multiple VMs will fail.  Quasar’s distributed architecture provides the best user experience by distributing the VMs across multiple physical hosts.  As applications demand additional CPU, RAM and Network provisions, the Cloud will automatically add them as needed. ViON supports this with enterprise class systems to provide high levels of reliability and availability.

“The products and services of Quasar and ViON are highly complimentary, and given ViON’s traditional focus on public entities and governmental operations, together we bring an entirely unique skill set to Texas-based organizations in need of Cloud infrastructure,” said Tom Frana, President and CEO of ViON.
