The Future of Data Sharing is Here.

The elusive holy grail in the Intelligence Community for as long as I can remember has always been true Multi-Level-Security (MLS). There have been attempts in the past but for the most part the systems have been of very limited capability, extremely expensive to maintain,  or very labor intensive, requiring multiple human reviews.  ViON, along with our ecosystem of technology partners is able to deliver a multi-level security solution that addresses all of these concerns.

On June 1st and 2nd,  ViON demonstrated the MLS storage solution at the Defense Intelligence Information Enterprise (DI2E) Plugfest show at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.  Plugfest is a forum that allows partcipants to get a hands on demonstration of the ability to provide an environment of networked, interoperabe, and reusable components.  ViON, and Seagate,  the developer of the Lustre based secure file system appliance at the core of our solution, partnered together at Plugfest to showcase our joint solution, Multi-Level Security –ecosystem (MLS-e).   MLS-e is specifically designed to support improved analysis and operations in an ISR environment through enhanced data sharing. It’s this capability that is a game changer for analysts working on classified and unclassified information.

In acknowledgement of  ViON’s alignment with the overall DI2E framework and associated goals we received four gold stars recognition.  More importantly, we heard from attendees that this technology can significantly expedite the speed to value of their analysis and transform how they do business.  We look forward to continuing our relationship with DI2E and and showcasing our capability at future Plugfests.

It’s one thing to demonstrate the technology and another to put it into an operational environment. ViON is working with our customers to define revised TTPs and workflows through pilot programs at customer locations to validate and verify how MLS-e can be best adapted  to meet our customers unique needs. It is also important to consider how it will impact current and future tradecraft from a data sharing perspective as analysts and warfighters are no longer constrained to access data at a single classification level. The potential benefits such as improved timeliness and costs reductuions are enormous.   Check out our MLS-e white paper to learn more about how we are able to make these benefits a reality.

This is just a first step. Combining MLS-e with DataAdapt, our Big Data Solution will allow users to ingest data from one level and perform consolidated analysis  available at another. The possibilities of performing complex data analytics across classified and unclassified data will improve support to the warfighter while at the same time lower overall costs for IT departments.   Visit our website to learn more about how we can help you maximize value from your information.
