ViON Hires Former CIO of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Fill Public Sector Strategy Role
Tony Encinias Will Serve as ViON’s VP of Public Sector Strategy and Offer ViON Customers the IT Expertise that Saved Pennsylvania Hundreds of Millions of Dollars Over the Course of His Tenure at the Commonwealth
HERNDON, Va. – April 7, 2015 – ViON Corporation, a market leader in the design, delivery and maintenance of mission critical IT infrastructure solutions, today announced that it has hired Tony Encinias as its new Vice President for Public Sector Strategy, a position created for Mr. Encinias.
Mr. Encinias most recently served as the Chief Information Officer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he was also Chief Technology Officer from 2008 to 2012. In his roles in Pennsylvania, Encinias developed and implemented a capacity-on-demand compute services strategy, as well as instituting an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) Cyber Security program, a first for state government. Other programs that Encinias put in place, which have saved Pennsylvania hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of his tenure at the Commonwealth, include implementing data sharing innovations within the Department of Labor and implementing an enterprise service desk strategy for the Department of Revenue and Department of Labor and Industry.
A retired United States Naval Officer with over two decades experience in IT management with the Department of Defense and state government, Mr. Encinias’ distinguished military career included serving as the Relational Supply Application program manager for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, and as the Deputy Director for Innovation in the eBusiness Operations Office for the Department of the Navy, Chief Information Officer. Mr. Encinias has been honored with multiple awards for his outstanding performance, and in his new role, he will head up ViON’s ambitious efforts to design and implement enterprise-class IT solutions for governments and commercial customers who are demanding high performance, lower costs, top security and 24/7/365 support in their IT modernization efforts.
