Hitachi Content Platform (HCP)

ViON presents the Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), a distributed storage system that is specifically designed to support large and growing repositories of fixed-content data. The HCP consists of both hardware and software. The HCP stores objects consisting of both data and metadata that contains information about the objects. The HCP distributes the objects across storage and presents the objects as files in a standard directory structure.

An HCP repository is partitioned into namespaces, each of which consists of a distinct logical grouping of objects containing its own directory structure. As such HCP is a cost-effective, scalable, easy to use solution to fill an enterprise-wide need for a repository of differing types of data, from simple text files, to image files, to multi-gigabyte database files.

HCP uses common open access protocols, NFS, CIFS, HTTP, WebDAV, SMTP, and NDMP.

The Content Platform is not just for archiving anymore. The HCP now provides the following:

There is a tight integration between the Hitachi Content Platform and Hitachi Data Ingestor, leading to many advantages for data handling between remote offices and the Central IT center.
